Pengembang Undead Labs telah mengumumkan bahwa "Breakdown" downloadable content (DLC) merupakan ekspansi pertama game State of Decay yang kini telah hadir melalui Xbox Live Arcade dan Steam dengan banderol harga USD 6,99.

Pada ekspansi ini dideskripsikan memiliki "cerita yang sedikit, lebih banyak aksi bertahan hidup" - aksi bertahan hidup untuk jangka panjang, secara spesifik dan memiliki tingikat kesulitan baru dengan achievements, survivors serta senjata baru. Pada tanggal yang sama nanti, State of Decay juga akan mendapatkan Title Update ke empat yang akan memperbaiki beberapa bug dan menambahkan berbagai bonus baru.
